Deadline to submit the proposal is September 28. When does a decision get made on the winning proposal? That's the question.

Must be a frustrating place for JT to play in that they seem to be going backwards from where they sat two years ago. A good 100 point team that made it to the second round of the playoffs that is now back to a bunch of youth and mediocre UFA's. Not to mention the constant state of flux not knowing when they're gonna play hockey in an actual hockey venue.

He'd fit in great between Jeff Skinner and Elias Lindholm.

IMO Tavares is subtly implying he does not want to re-sign with the Islanders. The fact that the organization is at odds with itself, and unsure of it's future does not bode well for re-signing him. He is obviously praising the organization that has drafted him and held him in such high regard for so long with comments like "I believe we're a contender", but realistically he knows that is bull. I don't think anyone truly believes the Islanders are a cup contender. They're a bubble team and will continue to be a bubble team for the foreseeable future.

What? You don't think locking up Cizikas, Clutterbuck and Ladd long term is the way to go?

For (frank)'s sake they only have 10 Current NHLers under contract for next season, and it's costing them just shy of $40 million.

Even if I'm generous, that's about 140-145 goals from those guys.

But this changes everything. SHE will decide where he's playing.

She's waiting on the arena issue to get ironed out before she decides whether to accept his proposal.

Basically he wants to see how the team does this year, before making a decision. And I dont blame him one bit for that. Islanders are likely to be a poop team this year, and being in the Metro doesn't help their situation.

90% he will be signing elsewhere. And I'm totally going to be annoyed by all the Tavares + Toronto talks all year. We don't need the guy but it'll be fun to see where he ends up!

She has to weigh all her options. Of course, she could just say yes to end the conversation, but that really wouldn't be the right thing to do. All the factors have to be taken into consideration. How funny would it be if she told him the same thing he tells the press.

She's from Canada. There is no way he resigns.

I was text by a very good source that JT and the islanders are negotiating behind the scenes.
There was a E4 after the text, for what it's worth.

Two huge hurdles the Ilses need to overcome to have him sign longterm will be how the team does this year and who they bring in to help him and where the team will be playing their home games for the next decade.
